Water4Crops: Reuse of Water and Wastewater

As part of the EU's Seventh Framework Programme, the Water4Crops project addressed the growing global problem of water scarcity. The project involved an Indo-European consortium consisting of 36 organizations (14 Indian and 22 European), including research institutions, universities, large companies and SMEs. The project investigated the possibilities of "integrating biologically treated wastewater, reuse and upgrading with improved water use efficiency to support the Green Economy in Europe and India". For this purpose, a balanced concept consisting of technologies for water treatment and the use of water reuse systems was developed in order to achieve a higher water use efficiency. In terms of sustainable development, one of the main objectives of WP6 was to offer tailored workshops to provide context, build capacity and demonstrate different technologies to the (inter-) national audience.
