Performance improvement of desalination plants in Libya

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) operated power plants at 10 locations in Libya and associated seawater desalination plants, which were needed to produce boiler feed water. In order to improve the availability, efficiency, as well as the safety of the plant, GECOL contracted external companies. Our responsibility was in the area of seawater desalination and water supply to the power plant. Our task was to evaluate the performance of the seawater desalination plants and to assist in the implementation on-site. Another task of STEP was to improve the operation of the power plant as well as the seawater desalination plant, both technically and organizationally. Much of the work took place in Libya.
